| - In adult females of the linden bug, Pyrrhocoris apterus, the expression levels of two circadian clock genes, period (per) and Par Domain Protein 1 (Pdp1) in the fat body are correlated with photoperiodic variables: per mRNA abundance is 2-3 fold higher at short days (SD) than at long days (LD), while Pdp1 mRNA abundance is 2-3 fold lower at SD than at LD. Neither per nor Pdp1 mRNAs exhibited significant daily rhythms. The effect of photoperiod on mRNA levels was found to be mediated by the corpus allatum (CA), an insect endocrine gland producing juvenile hormone, which is active in LD and inactive in SD conditions. Extirpation of the CA from LD-females resulted in SD-like levels of both per and Pdp1 mRNA, while this operation in SD-females has no effect on transcript levels. These data provide the first experimental evidence for hormonal regulation of circadian clock gene expression in the peripheral tissue of an insect.

- U ruměnice pospolné (Pyrrhocoris apterus), závisí intenzita exprese cirkadiánních génů na fotoperiodě – množství mRNA génu period je v tukovém tělese zvířat chovaných v krátkém (SD) dni 2-3 krát vyšší než u zvířat chovaných v dlouhém dni (LD). Transkript Par Domain Protein 1 (Pdp1) je regulován opačně - je jej více v dlouhém dni. Vliv fotoperiody na expresi může zprostředkovávat corpus allatum (CA), hmyzí endokrynní žláza produkující juvenilní hormón. Odstranění této žlázy u zvířat chovaných v LD navodilo vedlo k množství transkriptů odpovídající hladinám v SD. Tatáž operace ale neměla vliv na hladiny transkriptů pokud byla provedena na SD zvířatech. Naše výsledky jsou prvním zjištěním hormonální regulace exprese cirkadiánních génů u hmyzu. (cs)
