Description
  • Masivně rozšířený vodní květ celosvětově představuje závažný zdravotní a environmentální problem. Zatímco některé cyanotoxiny byly a jsou podrobně zkoumány, o dalších toxických látkách produkovaných sinicemi (např. Lipopolysacharidy, LPS) je známo velmi málo. Tato práce sezabývá endotoxinovou aktivitou LPS izolovaných z cyanobakteriálních kultur, vzorků vodního květu, heterotrofních G- bakterií a zelených řas. Výsledky toxikologickch testů povedených pomocí Limulus amoebocyte lysate testu naznačují, že endotoxinová aktivita LPS sinic a heterotrogních bakterií je srovnatelná a hodnoty se pohybují v přibližně shodném rozsahu. Nejvyšší aktivita mezi přírodními vzorky byla pozorována u vodního květu dominovaného Aphanizomenon sp. Studie dale naznačuje obecně vyšší endotoxinovou aktivitu v komplexních přírodních vzorcích než u laboratorních kultur. Další výzkum by měl být zaměřen na podrobnou toxikologickou a ekotoxikologickou charakterizaci LPS komplexního vodního květu. (cs)
  • Massive cyanobacterial water blooms are serious environmental problems worldwide. While some cyanobacterial toxins have been investigated extensively, other toxic components of cyanobacteria (lipopolysaccharides, LPS) are poorly understood. The present study characterized endotoxin activities of LPS isolated from cyanobacterial cultures, cyanobacterial water bloom samples, heterotrophic G- bacteria and green alga. Toxicity results derived with Limulus amebocyte lysate assay showed that endotoxin activities of LPS from both cyanobacteria and heterotrophic bacteria were comparable and within a similar range. The highest activities among the cyanobacterial samples were observed in the Aphanizomenon sp. dominated water bloom. The results also suggest generally higher endotoxin activities in complex natural samples than in laboratory cyanobacterial cultures. Further research should focus on detailed toxicological characterization of LPS in massive cyanobacterial water blooms.
