| - Information regarding cercariae behavior has often not been quantified in detail, or it is scattered in the literature, and the appropriate level of precision in behavioral identity, has not been properly established. We investigated the behavior of 8 furcocercous trematodes in central Finland. Our aim was to investigate characteristic measurements applicable in separation of cercariae species. We used a 2-level approach, recording qualitative behavioral traits of the cercariae (swimming type, resting position); and more detailed quantitative behavioral characteristics (resting time, swimming time, swimming speed). Species showing a 2-phase behavior were distinguishable according to qualitative traits, whereas with those showing continuous swimming behavior, a combination of qualitative and quantitative traits was required. These results suggest that characteristics of cercariae behavior can not only be used in species identification but also in general life history comparisons.

- Údaje týkající se chování cerkárií často nebyly dostatečně kvantifikovány nebo jsou roztroušené v literatuře, a proto význam jejich chování nebyl dostatečně ustanoven. Studovali jsme chování osmi furkocerkních cerkárií ve středním Finsku. Našim cílem bylo získat charakteristické hodnoty aplikovatelné pro odlišení jednotlivých druhů cerkárií. Ve dvou krocích jsme zaznamenávali kvalitativní znaky cerkárií (typ pohybu, klidová pozice) a potom detailnější kvantitativní znaky chování (trvání klidové pozice, doba pohybu, rychlost pohybu). Druhy s kvalitativními znaky chování byly jednoznačně identifikovatelné, u ostatních druhů byla nutná přesnější měření. Výsledky naznačují, že znaky chování cerkárií mohou být použity pro jejich identifikaci a zároveň v obecnějších srovnáních v rámci životních cyklů. (cs)
