Description
  • The conserved protein CBF5, initially regarded as a centromere binding protein in yeast and higher plants, was later found within nucleoli and in Cajal bodies of yeast and metazoa. We found EYFP-labeled CBF5 of A. thaliana to be located within nucleoli and Cajal bodies, but neither at centromeres nor somewhere else on chromosomes. Our further studies showed that AtCBF5 might have an essential function in RNA processing rather than being a kinetochore protein.

  • CBF5 byl původně považován za centromerický protein kvasinek a vyšších rostlin, později byl však u řady druhů lokalizován v jadércích a Cajalových tělískách. Naše studium CBF5 u Arabidopsis thaliana potvrdilo tuto lokalizaci v jadércích a nepřítomnost tohoto proteinu v centromerách nebo jinde na chromozomech. Následné experimenty ukázaly, že AtCBF5 může hrát významnou úlohu při úpravách RNA. (cs)
