  • Látkové toky hlavních iontů a živin v ekosystému silně acidifikovaného Plešného jezera (PL) a jeho povodí byly měřeny v hydrologických letech 2001-2005. PL povodí bylo čistým zdrojem síranů (v průměru 250 mol/ha/rok). Saturace povodí dusíkem způsobila nízké zadržování anorganického N z atmosférické depozice (v průměru < 44% před rokem 2004). Poté se povodí stalo čistým zdrojem anorganického N ve formě dusičnanů (280–320 mol/ha/rok) z důvodu klimatických (suché léto 2003 a studená zima 2004) a hynutí lesa napadeného kůrovcem v roce 2004. PL povodí bylo čistým zdrojem protonů (v průměru 240 mol/ha/rok). Jezerní biogeochemické procesy snížily tento látkový tok protonů o 59%. Čisté zadržení živin (P, N a Si) v jezeře činilo 23-50%. (cs)

Then, the watershed became a net source of 280–320 mol/ha/yr of inorganic N in the form of nitrate due to climatic effects (a dry summer in 2003 and a cold winter in 2004) and forest dieback caused by a bark beetle attack in 2004. The PL watershed was a net source of 240 mmol/ha/yr of protons. The in-lake biogeochemical processes reduced on average 59% of the incoming protons. The net in-lake retention or removal of nutrients (phosphorus, nitrogen, and silica) varied between 23% and 50% of their inputs.
