  • Steady-state models for the prediction of P retention coefficient (R) in lakes were evaluated using data from 93 natural lakes and 119 reservoirs situated in the temperate zone. Most of the already existing models predicted R relatively successfully in lakes while it was seriously under-estimated in reservoirs. A statistical analysis indicated the main causes of differences in R between lakes and reservoirs: (i) distinct relationships between P sedimentation coefficient, depth, and water residence time; (ii) existence of significant inflow-outflow P concentration gradients in reservoirs. Two new models of different complexity were developed for estimating R in reservoirs. These optimised models yield unbiased estimates over a large range of reservoir types.

  • V práci byla vyhodnocena úspěšnost předpovědi retenčního koeficientu fosforu (R) v nádržích pomocí souboru dat z 93 přírodních jezer a 119 umělých nádrží v mírném klimatickém pásmu. Většina existujících modelů předpovídala R pro jezera poměrně úspěšně, ale pro nádrže docházelo k závažnému podhodnocování. Statistická analýza ukázala, že hlavními příčinami rozdílů v hodnotách R mezi jezery a nádržemi byly: (i) odlišné vztahy mezi součinitelem sedimentace P, hloubkou a dobou zdržení vody a (ii) existence významných gradientů v koncentraci P mezi přítokem a odtokem v nádržích. Pro odhad R v nádržích byly vyvinuty dva nové modely, které se liší v míře komplexnosti. Oba modely poskytují v průměru nezkreslené výsledky pro široké rozmezí typů nádrží. (cs)
