| Description
| - Spermiogenesis and sperm ultrastructure of adult Cyathocephalus truncatus, a member of presumably basal group of „true” cestodes (Eucestoda), have been examined using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) for the first time. The process of sperm formation corresponds in basic pattern to that of the Pseudophyllidea (Bruňanská et al., 2001). However, mature spermatozoa of C. truncatus differ significantly from those of the pseudophyllideans, especially in the morphology of the proximal and distal spermatozoon extremities. New for the Eucestoda is a finding that a lateral cytoplasmic extension creates the distal end of the spermatozoa from testes, resembling sperm of some Monogenea and Digenea. Despite the above-mentioned peculiarities, the ultrastructural data on sperm/spermiogenesis suggest close relationships of the Spathebothriidea and Pseudophyllidea.

- Transmisním elektronovým mikroskopem byla studována spermiogeneze a ultrastruktura spermie Cyathocephalus truncatus, zástupce pravděpodobně bazální skupiny „pravých” tasemnic (Eucestoda). Proces formování spermie připomíná spermiogenezi u Pseudophyllidea (Bruňanská et al., 2001). Zralé spermie C. truncatus se však liší od spermií pseudophyllidních tasemnic zejména morfologií proximálních and distálních zakončení. Nové pro Eucestoda je zjištění, že spermie ve varlatech jsou podobné spermiím některých zástupců Monogenea and Digenea. Ultrastrukturální údaje o spermiích a spermiogenezi naznačují blízký vztah skupin Spathebothriidea a Pseudophyllidea. (cs)
