Description	This study reviews literature data and particular results of recent experiments carried out in RIFCH USB Vodňany, considering the use of clove oil as fish anaesthetics. Individual phases of anaesthesia with clove oil and recovery after it were studied on25 fish species. Relationship of anaesthetics dosage to water temperature was studied on tench (Tinca tinca), perch (Perca fluviatilis), sterlet (Acipenser ruthenus), Siberian sturgeon (Acipenser baeri) and stellate sturgeon (Acipenser stellatus). Resul ts of acute toxicity tests using 4 different water temperatures and 4 different exposures to the solution of anaesthetics were found for common carp (Cyprinus carpio). Results of use of various concentrations of clove oil related to water temperature were found for the African catfish (Clarias gariepinus). (en) Práce shrnuje literární údaje a dílčí výsledky experimentů prováděných ve VÚRH JU Vodňany v posledních letech, týkající se použití hřebíčkového oleje jako anestetika pro ryby. Sledovány byly jednotlivé fáze anestezie a jejího odeznění s použitím hřebíčkového oleje u 25 druhů ryb, závislosti dávek anestetika na teplotě vody pro lína obecného (Tinca tinca), okouna říčního (Perca fluviatilis), jesetera malého (Acipenser ruthenus), jesetera sibiřského (Acipenser baeri) a jesetera hvězdnatého (Acipenser stellatus), výsledky akutní toxicity u kapra obecného (Cyprinus carpio) při 4 různých teplotách vody a 4 různých délkách expozice v roztoku anestetika a výsledky použití různých koncentrací hřebíčkového oleje na teplotě vody u sumečka afrického (Clarias gariepinus).
