Description	Two trials of the performance of different tench groups were conducted. The first trial with a top-crossing scheme lasted to age of 1+. At this age, hybrids of Romanian-R breed with Tabor-T, Vodnany-V and Hungarian-H breeds displayed better performance in weight and/or survival when compared to pure Romanian population (e.g. weight in RxT=27.7 +/- 11.1g vs. RxR=21.9 +/- 8.6g; or survival in RxV=92.3% vs. RxR=47.7%). The second trial with Czech breeds (Vodnany; Hluboka-HL; Velke Mezirici and Tabor) revealed very good growth in Hluboka breed. Weight of HL breed compared to Vodnany breed was 95.7 %, 103.3 % and 40.5 % higher after the 2nd growing season (GS), the 2nd wintering and the 3rd GS, respectively. Performance in survival and dress out at market size differed significantly between breeds as well, even if not corresponding always with growth performance.
