Description
| - Agriculture is one of the traditional sectors of the economy. Agriculture today is not only to produce food but takes on itself and other functions, such as community, social or environmental ones. Agricultural activity is also an integral part of the rural area. The performance of these production functions is supported by many farmers' subsidy instruments (national or European). The Czech agrarian sector has undergone significant changes in the last few decades. The first area of change was the economic transformation after 1989 (the fall of the totalitarian regime in Czechoslovakia). Another important area was the Czech Republic's accession to the European Union in 2004. The aim of this monograph is to assess the developments of the average Czech farm's efficiency after EU accession. The data base consists of a sample of about 830 observations from 2004 to 2010. The time series is long enough to follow the development of the results after the establishment of Czech farmers using the principles of the EU and the CAP. Evaluation was carried out using the methods of financial analysis - both traditional financial ratios, as well as systems (bankruptcy and value models). The results show that, although after 2004 revenue per employee increased in the period, there were no significant changes in the value added per worker. However, farms were profitable on average, excluding in the year 2009. It was verified by bankruptcy and value models that the average farm is of good financial health (no problems or debt and sufficient liquidity). The classification of farms (by size, legal forms and share of the LFA) in most cases proved there were rather small differences of different groups in each classification. An overall analysis clearly identified a close link to the CAP subsidy policy. Without a subsidy policy (financial aid), farms find themselves in a financial loss, which gradually deepens.
