  • The environment of firms is strongly influenced by dynamic changes in the past few decades. The pressure from customers gets the front in particular, as price affordable, high quality, delivered in the shortest possible time, the products are provided by other services. Another significant factor of the changing environment is a global competition, which affects the local markets by an ability to quickly deliver the products and which is able to copy a possible successful production. It is created a greater pressure on the flexibility of firms thereby. The competencies of individual staffs respectively the skills of managers are the cornerstones of firm's competitiveness in such an environment. The competence is possible understood as the ability to behave in a manner consistent with job requirements in the parameters of the environment organization, thus to bring the desired results. A quality managerial education system is able to develop largely the competencies or at least to detect. The paper deals with defining the essence of competencies using a range of approaches, presentations of research results, which aimed to identify the required competencies of selected managers of Czech firms and description of potential tools for the development of research skills in education students of study program Management and Business Economics at the Faculty of Economics the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. The competencies have been defined by use of the comparison of literature sources. Information about the required managerial competencies were obtained through a sample survey of 150 managers of the Czech companies. As a teaching system of development managerial competencies of students have been described the courses The firm I, II and III in an article. These courses are cardinal from this view in the frame of Study program Management and Business Economics.
