  • Although the computer performance improves markedly in recent years, pure particle simulations of effects caused by finite probe dimensions can be still hardly performed. Therefore, the hybrid modelling technique combining the advantages of both fluid and particle modelling techniques seems to be the best alternative for these studies. In our work there are presented possibilities provided by the fast and well multitask-able computer model of hybrid type, which has been developed at our departments. The behaviour of low-temperature electropositive plasma in the vicinity of probes with frequently used geometry shapes (planar, cylindrical and spherical) is discussed. The work is aimed both on the effects of flnite probe dimensions and on the influence of the probe holder on sheath formation.
