Description
(cs)
  • The aim of the work was to evaluate the influence of water extracts, which were obtained from buckwheat plants, on the growth of a testing plant and so evaluate the allelopathical potential of buckwheat. Common buckwheat was grown in České Budějovice (48° 57' 42%22, 14° 28' 05%22, 380 m a.s.l., sand-loam brown soil) in year 2004 and2005. Aboveground biomasse (stems and leaves) were sampled before harvest, than dried at 40°C, ground and extracted with distilled water. The extract was applied on a filter paper with 30 seeds of lettuce in a Petri dish. We observed length of roots and hypocotyl after 3 days (to development of hypocotyl). The extract significantly inhibited the growth of lettuce root. Hypocotyl was inhibited in dependence on concetration of extract. The lower concentration can stimulate the hypocotyle growth. It confirmed the possible allelopathical effect of buckwheat on other plant species. Interannual difference in allelopathical potential of buckwheat was mainly obviou
