| - The most natural livestock breeding without any market production of milk is a pasture rearing on permanent grass covered grazing. The aim of the work was an ethological monitoring and the evaluation of basic life-expressions of meat breed cows in a sub-mountain area of Šumava (640 - 755 m altitude). The monitoring took place by daylight in all seasons and the chosen method was a direct group observation within ten-minute intervals. Observed activities were: fodder intake, movement (migration), standstill and lying. The pastures are used for continual pasture. The longest duration of the fodder intake of the Breeding-cows was in spring (50.2 % of the day) and in the autumn (51.6 % of the day). The shortest time was in winter - only 30.6 % of the day. The migration of livestock was mostly higher in colder days - 10.5 % of the day. In winter there was also proved the longest standstill time (5.6 hours). The longest duration of taking a rest by lying was in summer (29.2 % of the day) and the shortest in

- Nejpřirozenějším způsobem chovu skotu bez tržní produkce mléka je permanentní pastevní chov. Cílem práce bylo etologické sledování a zhodnocení základních životních projevů krav masných plemen v podhorské oblasti Šumavy (640 - 755 m n.m.). Sledování probíhalo za denního světla po celou sezonu a bylo zvoleno přímé skupinové sledování v desetiminutových intervalech. Sledovány byly tyto aktivity: příjem krmiva, pohyb, stání a ležení. Byla využita kontinuální pastva. Nejdelší doba příjmu krmiva byla na jaře (50,2% dne) a na podzim (51,6 % dne). Nejkratší doba to byla v zimě - pouze 30,6 % dne. Pohyb skotu byl nejvyšší v chladných dnech - 10,5%. V zimě také docházelo k nejdelšímu stání (5,6 hodin). Nejdelší doba odpočinku v leže byla v létě (29,2 % dne) a nejkratší v zimě (7,9 % dne). Ze sledování vyplývá, že z hlediska welfare zvířat je vhodný chov skotu v podhorských oblastech. (cs)
