Description
  • In four farms with exensive farming management in mountain region of Šumava we examined the saturation of beef cows with macroelements in relation to their uptake from bulk feed and lick. Results come from analysis of blood plasm, urine and faeces. Along with the average 142 % Ca uptake, Ca exclusion with faeces reached on average 12,4 +/- 3,3 g.kg-1 of dry matter. Despite the redundant Ca uptake, Ca concentration in blood plasm remained at the bottom limit of reference figures and calciuria average was 1,6 +/- 0,8 mmol Ca.l-1 of urine. In case of 92% P uptake (also redundant Ca uptake), we recorded hypophosphaturia in 46 % of cases (lower P exclusion with urine and average P content in faeces 7,3 +/- 1,6 g.kg-1 of dry matter). Similarly 80% Mg uptake together with Ca redundance was not followed by hypomagnesaemia or significant fall in Mg exclusion with urine. The average Mg content in faeces was 4,3 +/- 0,8 g.kg-1 of dry matter. The results show the need to revise the amount and composition of the
