Description
  • Microsatellites are repetitive elements containing simple sequence motives, usually dimers or trimers. Some of them can be linked in linkage with genes controlling some important traits such as milk production, so utilization of these markers may lead toimproving of current breeding programmes. We used 13 microsatellites in order to calculate and evaluate genetic diversity of several cattle breeds - Czech Spotted, Black Pied, Czech, Polish and German Red. The highest polymorphism was observed in Czech Spotted cattle (PIC = 0,4317; H = 0,4946). Czech Red cattle and its crossbreds tended to reduce their genetic variability, which fact can be explained by small number of population. Supported by CEZ J06/98: 122200004.
