  • The aim of the study Sdenco Adalberto Popel de Lobkowicz: la carrera de un cliente espa?ol en la corte imperial was not only to outline Lobkovic's activities in favor of Spanish counter-reformation politics. The author demonstrated, by the example of Lobkowicz's career, the actual working of the Spanish client network. Lobkowicz obtained a number of privileges during his lifetime, including a private audience at Phillip II's court in El Escorial, various gifts and finally the highly prestigious Order of Golden Fleece. Spanish kings and their legates at the imperial court intervened several times on Lobkowicz's behalf. Among other things, they supported him as High Chancellor of the Kingdom of Bohemia (he acted as one for 29 years) and helped him to obtain a status of Imperial prince in 1624. (en)
