  • Nanocomposite coatings represent a new generation of materials. Nanocomposite films are composed of at least two separate phases with nanocrystalline and/or amorphous structure. The nanocomposite materials, due to very small size of grains from which they are composed and a significant role of boundary regions surrounding individual grains, behave in a different manner compared to that of the conventional materials with grains greater than 100nm, and so they exhibit completely new properties. New unique physical and functional properties of the nanocomposite films are a main driving force stimulating a huge development of these materials. This chapter reviews the state-of-the-art in the field of hard and superhard nanocomposite films.

  • Publikace přináší přehled současného stavu poznání v oblasti přípravy tvrdých nanokompozitních tenkých vrstev, které představují novou generaci materiálů s unikátními vlastnostmi. Mezi tyto vlastnosti patří zvýšená tvrdost, houževnatost a odolnost proti opotřebení, vysoká tepelná stabilita a oxidační resistence i za vysokých teplot. Pozornost je rovněž věnována způsobu vytváření těchto vrstev pomocí magnetronového naprašování a dále detailnímu studiu fyzikálních a mechanických vlastností takto připravených vrstev. (cs)
