Description
V (cs)
  • This study deals with numerical simulation of a blood flow in a complete 2-D bypass model. The idealized 2-D model of a fully blocked host tube with an end-to-side bypass graft is considered. The vessel walls are assumed to be impermeable and rigid. The problem of a blood flow is solved as an isothermal steady laminar flow of incompressible Newtonian fluid using the pseudo-compressibility method. The spatial discretization of the unsteady non-linear system of the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations in pseudo-transient conservative form is performed by the cell-centered finite volume method on a structured quadrilateral grid. Its time integration is realized by the widely used explicit two-step MacCormack scheme with artificial dissipation. The computed velocity and pressure distributions in the entire bypass model are analyzed and compared to the results obtained from the software package Fluent.
