Description
(cs)
  • The material of soft biological tissues can be characterized as a mixture of solid and fluid components interacting in the microstructure. In this paper we demonstrate application of the homogenization approach to the multiscale modelling of tissues constituting the arterial wall; the microstructure is assumed to be formed as a periodic lattice generated by periodic representative volume element (PRVE) which reflects important features of the interactions. At the macroscopic level the homogenized model involves deformation-dependent material parameters which are recovered by solving local microscopic problems formulated in the PRVEs.
