Description	The solution of the optimization problems is not an exclusive matter of a specialist in the area of the operations research any more. The purpose of this contribution is among others to show that we can reach an effective solution of some practical prob lems also by means of a quite simple method. We can apply these procedures even without a deep and detailed knowledge of the operations research theory. A case of optimization of the municipal refuse collecting system is presented here by the help of an application of several well-known simple heuristics. Significant cost savings are documented on an example of an individual company obtained by suitable application of simple algorithms.
