  • The term %22Realpolitik%22 was used for the first time by German writer Ludwig von Rochau in order to describe such policy, which is free of any ideological or idealistic aspects, pursues clearly defined and achievable goals while objectively assessing own abilities, according to which the used means are determined. The main task of the conference %22Realpolitik in the History%22, which was organized by the Department of Historical Sciences of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen on the 24th May 2013, was to define the definition of the term. The participants among which were not only the members of the hosting department, but also notable Czech and foreign guests, tried to reflect the discussed question through particular historical examples.
