Kapitola přibližuje cíle a charakteristiku prvního českého archeologického projektu, který se zabýval aplikací laserového 3-D snímkování. (cs) In this chapter principal objectives and results of the first Czech archaeological project on the application of airborne laser scanning (ALS) is presented. Obtaining funds for its realization by the Grant agency of the Czech Republic meant that there was for the first time an opportunity to apply this most modern (and undoubtedly for a long time the most significant and most effective) method of mapping of those parts of the landscape (forested areas, open terrain, lowlands including intensively ploughed fields, highlands) in which remains of past human activities have been conserved in the form of earthworks. It also allows us to test the potential of this method for the identification, recording and documentation of these features and to evaluate its effectiveness concerning the costs input and the quality of the results (especially in comparison with the costs of other means of obtaining a digital terrain model using other ? traditional ? methods).
