Description	This text concentrates on the role the Catholic Church plays in the Czech Republic and on the influence it exercises in this country. The author compares two regions (the Moravia-Silesia Region and West Bohemia) in which the Catholic Church has a very di\erent position. He compares publicly-accessible socio-demographic data on the targeted regions with the Acts of Spiritual Administration data collected in the Czech Catholic Church database, which have not yet been published. The main categories for comparison were: the total number of newborn children with the total number of children baptised before the age of one; the total number of marriages with the total number of Church marriages; and the total number of deaths in the given year in the given region with the total number of Church funerals (either cremation or interment). The author compares the Pilsen and Ostrava-Opava dioceses, which overlap with the selected regions. Since uninterrupted 1997?2009 data series were available for these regions, it is possible to forecast what position the Church will hold in the compared regions in the future. A comparison of the data allowed the author to formulate the following conclusions: both regions are characterised by a fall in the proportion of all three types of religious acts in chosen indicators.
