Description
  • The force acting on electrically conductive liquid in the channel of a magnetohydrodynamic pump is given by the integral of vector product of current density passing through the liquid and magnetic flux density over its volume. In order to obtain its maximum value in the given geometry it is necessary to secure that both these vectors are perpendicular to one another. The paper represents a study whose aim is to provide a hint how to design the system of field coils that would produce a highly uniform magnetic field in the channel of circular and rectangular profiles. The methodology is illustrated on an example whose results are discussed.
