Description	The actual tendencies lead to the improvement of current technologies, search for new methods, or use of known technologies in other ways. An advanced technology enabling the manufacture of stepped hollow products which are hard to manufacture using conventional technologies, and which at the same time contributes to the effective use of the material, is flow forming process. This technology use incremental deformations for achieving the required aims. The purpose of our research was to evaluate the influence of the initial pearlite morphology on the formability of a low-alloyed steel work piece using this technology. The research focused on determining the influence of forming conditions on the deformation of material structure of final product. For the experiment the three sort of the initial material structures were used. After that the mechanical properties of the final product were established with help of mini tensile tests. The last step was focused on the examination of dependency of initial microhardness and ultimate strength. The aim of the experiment was optimizing the structure of the initial semi-product and choosing suitable technological parameters for achieving the highest possible quality of the resulting product and surface state.
