| - The conventional (C) milk was as reference to organic (O). Bulk milk samples (BMSs) were from C and O period of 1 Holstein (H) herd. Milk yield (MY) was reduced by 14.6 and 28.5 %. Crude protein (CP) was reduced (3.17 < 3.25 %). Lower milk urea in O (22.02 < 28.56 mg.100ml-1; by 22.9 %) is a regular event. H BMSs from winter and summer were investigated in 4 O herds (16) and in 1 C herd (36). Fat (3.79 < 4.06 %), CP and true protein (3.09 < 3.17 %) and casein (2.54 < 2.66 %) were lower in O (P < 0.05). Lactose (4.92 > 4.82 %) and whey protein were higher (P < 0.05). It and lower urea 19.53 < 40.39 mg.100ml-1 and higher acetone (6.8 > 1.6 mg.l-1) showed on permanent energy and protein deficiency in O nutrition. Citric acid in O was (P > 0.05) lower (8.45 < 8.76 mmol.l-1). Somatic cell count (SCC) was lower (P < 0.05) in C in this case, both (C and O) had SCC on level extra milk quality (< 300 ths.ml-1).
