| - This paper is concerned with the issue of robberies in the Czech Republic, and primarily in the capital city, Prague. Statistics show that there has been a sharp rise in the number of robberies recorded in the Czech Republic following the political upheavals of 1989. In spite of this, current Czech criminology does not give proper attention to this kind of criminal activity. For this reason, the authors will attempt, not only to summarise research efforts hitherto undertaken in this field and place them in a wider international context, but also to offer, above all, basic and criminologically relevant data on offenders, victims and some other significant factors, making use of official crime statistics as well as special police statistical records, and further also data obtained through their own analysis of a sample of court files.

- Tato práce se zabývá problematikou loupeží v České republice, a především pak v jejím hlavním městě Praze. Statistiky ukazují, že po politickém převratu v roce 1989 došlo v České republice k velmi prudkému nárůstu počtu spáchaných loupeží. Navzdory tomuto faktu ale současná česká kriminologie nevěnuje tomuto druhu trestné činnosti patřičnou pozornost. Autoři se proto snaží nejen shrnout dosavadní výzkumné úsilí v této oblasti a zasadit ho do širších mezinárodních souvislostí, ale především nabídnout základní a kriminologicky relevantní údaje o pachatelích, obětech i některých dalších podstatných okolnostech týkajících se loupeží spáchaných v České republice a konkrétně v Praze v posledních letech. Využívají přitom nejen oficiální kriminální statistiky, ale rovněž speciální policejní statistické sestavy, z nichž je možno čerpat podrobnější informace, a dále rovněž údaje získané vlastní analýzou vzorku soudních spisů.
