Description	Management of financial structure has been an object of economists´ interest for almost a century. In spite of the long period of research of the issue there is no unified approach to division of internal and external finance sources. The aim is to verify a generally valid statement that the greater use of external capital leads to growth of return on equity. This is the base on which hypotheses have been formulated and they will be checked in the analytical part. The issue is examined based on data from five business branches as wholes from 2004 to 2012. The attention is also drawn to the fact that there are differences in the use of finance sources in case that the majority owner is a domestic subject or foreign subject. Based on the correlation of values of debt-equity ratio and return on equity, the situation will be compared and the formulated hypotheses about the use of finance sources will be proven or disproven.
