Description
  • Design of experiments (DOE) methods seems to be very useful exploratory tool at many points of material engineering. In thermal spraying, DOE with statistical analysis is used to determine relationship between the input factors and responses in the process. Thus, e. g. spraying parameters such as stoichiometric ratio or deposition distance can be optimized to target the acceptable values of coating properties simultaneously. In this article, the influence of the testing parameters (set on ASTM G-99) on coefficient of friction (CoF) is investigated. At first, there were 6 variable input factors included in the process. Only some of them have dominant effect on CoF. More exact relations between sliding speed, pin load, presence of lubricant and coefficient of friction were investigated. The effect of a measurement error and was also detected.
