Description
  • In the presented work the total hand (THV) and its primary parts of hand (PHV) of textiles containing a certain portion of metal fibers were assessed. These textiles are designed for shielding of electromagnetic radiation (smog). The metal fibers typically excel higher rigidity and thus may affect subsequent rigidity of the final fabric. The high rigidity of the fabric adversely affects the total hand. The electro conductive woven and knitted fabrics which have been made from blended yarns with different ratios of polypropylene and metal fibers were evaluated. For experiment 7 twill fabrics with the proportion of metal fibers 1, 3, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 60% and 6 single flat stitch fabrics with a proportion of metal fibers 1, 3, 5, 10, 15, 20% were prepared. The evaluation was realized by means of panel of 30 respondents. The textiles were evaluated three times – two times using seven degree ordinal scale and one time the rank method was applied. The median of the ordinal scale, Friedman's test and Tukey's method were used for the analysis of the results. For all the evaluated primary parts of hand and also for total hand the similar tendencies were found. Fabrics with a higher proportion of metal fibers were evaluated to feel better, whereas trend was reversed at knitwear.
