  • anotace v originale Using digital image analysis permits a more detailed analysis of such basic structural parameters of linear textile products as thickness, hairiness and number of twists. The process of identifying structural yarn parameters is a significant problem, in the light of both hitherto conducted scientific investigations and current industrial practice. Imaging polarimetry has emerged over the past three decades as a powerful tool to enhance the information available in a variety of remote sensing applications. This paper describes various illumination and image processing techniques for yarn characterization. Darkfield and Brightfield illuminations together with imaging polarimetry are compared in terms of depth of field tolerance and image quality. Experiments show that passive imaging polarimetry illumination is superior in terms of depth of field tolerance and contrast.
