Description
  • Packing density express degree of arrangements of fibers in yarn. It is one of basic characteristics of yarn structure, which is applicable in computation of inter-fiber contacts and equivalent pore diameter, yarn diameter, recommended yarn twist, twisting, fiber contact density, yarn compression and yarn hardness etc. The packing density is evaluates from yarns cross section as ratio of fiber cross-sections areas to the cross section area of whole yarn. Two methods are compared in this work First is based on the analysis of yarn cross sectional image. Second one reconstructs fiber cross sections from points of their centers. For comparison of both methods the ring yarns created from PET fibers having special cross sectional area (type %22B%22 has circular cross area and type %22E%22 has cross profile) have been analyzed.
