Description	Co zakládá úspěch a ekonomickou prosperitu některých venkovských oblastí, zatímco jiné trpí vylidňováním, stárnutím obyvatelstva, sociálními problémy a hospodářskou stagnací? Pokud nejsou odhaleny komparativní výhody daných oblastí, je velmi obtížné identifikovat potenciální zdroje hospodářského růstu. Je tedy třeba nalézt nové přístupy k rozvoji venkova, jež nebudou jako jediný zdroj hospodářského růstu venkova spatřovat v zemědělství, ale které budou přispívat k širší diverzifikaci venkovských aktivit. Takové přístupy musí přihlížet více k místním tradicím, specifickým řemeslům a místním produktům, stejně i k přírodním krásám či uměle vytvořeným památkám. Napříč zeměmi lze nalézt množství praktických ukázek úspěšných strategií. (cs) What underlies a success and economic prosperity some rural areas, whereas others suffer from depopulation, aging, social disruptions as well as economic stagnation? Unless a comparative advantage of a given area is revealed, crucial and/or potential sources of economic growth are hard to be identified. New approaches to rural development have had to be discovered such that would no longer address agriculture as the only source of rural economic growth but that would contribute to broader diversification of rural activities. While doing so, local traditions, specific handicrafts, products and notable natural as well as manmade amenities have to be taken into account. Certain cases demonstrating several successful strategies in practice can be found across countries.
