Description
| - Flat fabrics are commonly used as cover material in the manufacturing of seats (upholstery for the seats in vehicles, chairs and office seats), as well as mattresses, upholstered goods, etc. Their properties are connected with a comfort, which is determined by their structure, resistance to abrasion, permeability, shrinkage, wrinkling, production process, finishing, and last but not least a high elongation. These upholstery fabrics cover elastic materials as are foams and change their properties. A virtual simulation of a standardized sample of upholstery fabric allows testing, analyzing and comparing of properties, which cannot be measured directly in real experiments, for example mechanical properties of upholstery fabrics in different directions during tensile tests, such as course of the main axes of stress and strain. The virtual model of upholstery fabric in an FEM environment is based on nonlinear material properties which are experimentally determined on a test device.
