Description
| - Addition of small amount of nanoparticles to polymeric systems is known to improve their mechanical, thermomechanical, electric, and thermal properties. The effect of addition of nanoparticles on properties of coating systems has been much less investigated, presented work was focused on nonfunctionalized nanoparticles. Study is focused on the preparation of hydroxy functionalized montmorillonites and the evaluation of the effect of concentration of hydroxy groups on mechanical and coating properties of PUR system. Coatings were prepared from OH functionalized acrylic binder and hexamethylene diisocyanate. 5wt.% of montmorillonite intercalates with various concentration of hydroxy groups were added into coating system. The addition of intercalates increased shear modulus in glassy state, but its glassy state value is not influenced by concentration of hydroxyl groups. On the other hand, value of shear modulus in rubber state increases with increasing concentration of hydroxyls present in intercalate.
