  • Asfalt je složitá vícesložková směs uhlovodíků, jehož mikrostrukturální znalosti nejsou doposud vysvětleny. Velmi důležitý je koloidní index asfaltu, který je založený na poměru čtyř hlavních chemických složek (asfalténů, pryskyřic, aromátů a nasycených olejů). Chemické složení a struktura asfaltu ovlivňuje jeho teplotní závislost a mechanické vlastnosti. Tato závislost je řízena interakcemi jednotlivých složek. Pochopení vztahů mezi složením asfaltů, strukturou a jejich vlastnostmi není zcela objasněno. Proto Centrum dopravního výzkumu (CDV) začalo studovat morfologii asfaltů pomocí skenovací elektronové mikroskopie (SEM). Pro pozorování mikrostruktury asfaltů je velmi důležitá příprava vzorků, protože je obtížné pozorovat asfaltény v neupraveném vzorku. V příspěvku je znázorněna závislost morfologie asfaltů na metodě přípravy vzorků. (cs)
  • Bitumen is a complex multicomponent mixture of hydrocarbons where microstructural knowledge is not explained so far. Big importance is given to the colloidal index of the bitumen, based on the ratio of four main chemical components (asphaltenes, resins, aromatics, saturates). Bitumen has a strong temperature dependence of mechanical properties, chemical composition and structure, controlled by the interaction of the individual components. Our understanding of the relationships among bitumen composition, structure and their properties remains imprecise. Therefore, CDV performed a study of bitumen using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) to determine morphology. An important factor in microscopical observations of bitumen is its sample preparation, because it has conventionally been difficult to observe the asphaltene component in unaltered samples of bitumen. The dependence of morphology on the method of sample preparation is demonstrated.
