Description	Grinding is very important machining finishing operation uses for high quality surfaces. The most important element of grinding process is tool grinding wheel. Its volume loss is one of the characteristic parameters and shows grinding wheel properties, grinded material, cutting properties etc. To get a value of grinding wheel volume loss is complicated and article describes methods used to evaluate it and method used, researched or considered to use at FPTM. (en) Důležitým prvkem brousícího procesu je mimo jiné nástroj, v našem případě brousící kotouč. Jeho úbytek je jednou z charakteristických veličin procesu broušení, která přispívá k získaní přehledu o vlastnostech brousícího kotouče, broušeného materiálu, o použitých řezných podmínkách a dalších. Získávání této veličiny je poměrně komplikované a v článku je krátké shrnutí metod, které lze za určitých okolností pro získávání této veličiny použít a které se na FVTM používají, či se nějak řešily a nebo je o nich uvažováno.
