Description
| - The magazine %22Der Igel%22 (Hedgehog) was published between 1935 and 1938 by members of the German minority in Czechoslovakia. Der Igel declared itself to be the representative of %22the only genuine Sudeten Germans%22, i.e. supporters of the SDP (Sudeten German Party). This article analyzes the different ways of depicting the following topics in Der Igel: Czechoslovak press and radio, economic crisis, the situation abroad, and foreign policy of the state. Der Igel was ironical about Czechs (as national enemies), but also about ideological opponents on the left part of political spectrum (Marxists, and Communists). Among the greatest enemies of the magazine were political leaders of German civic parties; due to their cooperation with the Czechoslovak government Der Igel nicknamed them %22activists%22.
