Description
  • Utilization of the renewable sources of energy has attracted attention over the last decade. More over the amount of the produced power is rapidly growing all over the world. One of the energy sources is the biogas. Conventional biogas plants use the combined production of the heat and electricity through the standard CHP (combined heat and power) units known as cogeneration. Nevertheless this conversion does not have expected efficiency because the utilization of the heat at the biogas plant site is very restricted in most cases. Therefore there have been developed technologies to upgrade biogas to the quality of the natural gas which could be easily injected in the distribution network. One of the separation technologies which is capable to achieve required quality of the product is membrane separation. Nevertheless there is only few installations over the Europe for biogas pgrading. Our objective is to develop the combined membrane technology ensuring required quality of the upgraded biogas and evaluation of its performance and costs. Developed technology should be validated by pilot tests.
