Description	The presented collective monograph represents a synthesis of findings, to which the authors came in partial areas of optimization of the basic public finance segments (the revenue and expenditure side of the budget as well as their resulting short-term and long-term balance). Based on the findings gained during the project resolution, the authors believe that currently, when the starting sovereign debt crises are unambiguously becoming apparent in the EU, the basic criterion of optimality in respect of the public finance settings is not the impact on economic growth, but rather a fiscal consolidation, which would enable gradual elimination of the existing long-term fiscal imbalance. Předkládaná kolektivní monografie je syntézou poznatků, ke kterým autoři dospěli v dílčích oblastech optimalizace základních segmentů veřejných financí (příjmová a výdajová strana rozpočtu i jejich výsledné krátkodobé a dlouhodobé saldo). Na základě poznatků, získaných v průběhu řešení se autoři domnívají, že v současné situaci, kdy se v EU již jednoznačně projevují počátky suverénní dluhové krize, není základním kriteriem optimality nastavení systému veřejných financí vliv na ekonomický růst, ale fiskální konsolidace, která umožní postupnou likvidaci existující dlouhodobé fiskální nerovnováhy.
