Description
  • This article deals with a study of layers prepared by the method of liquid-phase siliconizing; their main component is ternary phase TiAl0.3Si1.7. Experiments have proved that these layers are efficient protective barriers in high-temperature cyclic oxidation. During oxidation, no fall-off of layers was observed. The experiments also indicated excellent adhesion at high gradients of temperature alternating during oxidation. Thickness of the prepared layers is about 60 Ohm and their hardness is up to 750 HV. These layers are expected to feature high adhesion associated with character of their growth; adhesion was determined by tearing-off at 18.8 MPa.
