  • The effect of the addition of manganese and chromium on the corrosion behaviour of AlMg3 and AlMg4.5 twin-roll cast alloys was studied. The influence of Mn and long exposure to elevated temperature on alloy susceptibility to intergranular corrosion was assessed. The presence of Mn in both Al-Mg alloys significantly improves their resistance to intergranular corrosion, especially in the alloy with high Mg content. Exposure to elevated temperatures amplifies the corrosion attack of grain boundaries only in the alloys without Mn and Cr. The presence of Mn facilitates the bonding of Mg atoms in constituent particles and precipitates resulting in reduced amount of Mg available for precipitation on grain boundaries. The lack of beta-Al3Mg2 precipitation on grain boundaries of the alloys with Mn is the cause their low susceptibility to intergranular corrosion.

  • Byl studován účinek přísad manganu a chrómu na korozní chování slitin AlMg3 a AlMg4,5 odlitých plynulým způsobem mezi válce. Byl posuzován vliv Mn a dlouhodobého vystavení působení zvýšené teploty na náchylnost slitin k mezikrystalické korozi. Přítomnost Mn výrazně zlepšuje odolnost obou slitin k mezikrystalické korozi, speciálně u slitiny s vyšším obsahem Mg. Vystavení působení zvýšené teploty zesiluje korozní napadení hranic zrn u slitin bez Mn a Cr. Přítomnost Mn usnadňuje navázání Mg atomů v částicích primárních fází a precipitátů, což má za následek snížení množství Mg, které je k dispozici pro vznik precipitátů po hranicích zrn. Nepřítomnost precipitátů beta-Al3Mg2 na hranicích zrn je příčinou malé náchylnosti slitin s Mn k interkrystalické korozi. (cs)
