Description	This paper describes the second part of a study of 26 leaf characters in the nursery with the aim to select suitable descriptors for apple cultivars. Instead of previous evaluation on M 9, rootstock A 2 was used again in combination with 68 cultivars. The great majority of the characters has the same or very similar performance on this rootstock as they were on the rootstock M 9. The trees on A 2 produced significantly more accessory leaves and the size of leaves was greater. These trees also had somewhat less sharply cut leaf margins and lighter green colour of leaves. Significance of differences among cultivars (measured by F values of analysis of variance) were higher for particular characters on A 2 rootstock. From the leaf characters studied here on both rootstocks the best potential descriptors should be pubescence of the dorsal side of leaf blade, petiole colour, colour (intensity of green) of leaf blade and size of stipules.
