  • The paper describes experimental researches on vibration piezoelectric sensor. The main aim of work is to compare temperature effect on piezoelectric material coefficients, the influence on the resonant frequency of piezoelectric knock sensor and changes these parameters on the sensitivity and accuracy of sensors. The purpose of the research is to fault diagnosis of active piezoelectric element for self-diagnostics of sensor in normal engine operation, because online health monitoring of knock sensors can prevent engine damage. Temperature changes significantly affect the material properties of the active element from PZT ceramics. Temperature deviations are compared on the impedance characteristics in the working temperature range of engine and also related to different types of sensor damage. Depending on the material defects (microcracks, fissure) and changes in the material coefficients related to the frequency characteristic can assess the degree of damage sensors and the prediction quality piez
