Glas et al (1999), for example, suggest that SMEs are important factors in the sustainability of economic transformation through their growing contribution to exports and business co-operation in general, as well as to the formation of a vibrant domestic industrial economy, in particular. The long-term sustainnability of SMEs is increasingly enhanced by the entry of such firms into foreign markets, often because of the increased competition in the home country and because of market-size limitations. Researchers have sought explanations for both the initial entry decision-making and the process by which SMEs internationalise.
