  • The NiTi alloy has become an important modern material in last years mainly owing to its shape memory effect. It is used as a material for actuators, bone implants, stents, etc. In this work, the influence of (100) twinning mode on the elastic response of martensite is studied using the ab-initio simulations. The Young`s modulus was computed for <100>, <010> and <001> crystallographic directions. The computed results show that lower modulus is obtained for a system containing twins in the considered twinning mode than for an untwinned system. (en)
