Description
  • A lot of disorders of the hip joint can be congenital or acquired in juvenile age. Disorders can be treated with an appropriate osteotomy. Generally, there are more ways of how to carry out the osteotomy, but strain and stress parameters after the surgical operation should reach the state of parameters in physiological hip in the best possible way. In order to study biomechanics of the hip, the 3-D finite element model of the physiological hip joint was created. This computational model enables us to maake modifications, describing the pathological children's hip before and after surgical operation. Radial stress, resultant contact force, and contact pressure between the femoral head and the cartilage in the acetabulum are determined. The first resultspresented, based on the strain and stress analysis, correspond to the state of present knowledge.
