  • Utilising biomass represents one of renewable energy technologies. In spite of the fact that its production and a possible utilisation cannot from the energy potential point of view compete with fossil flues, from the local point of view biomass often becomes a valuable contribution to energy systems. Gasification is a thermal upgrading process, in which the majority of the carbon is converted into the gaseous form (syngas), leaving an inert residue, by partial combustion of a portion of the fuel in thhe reactor with air, or with pure oxygen, or with oxygen enriched air or by countercurrent reaction with steam. The produced syngas can be employed as power via additional processing. An experimental reactor with fluidised bed, having capacity of 40 kg/hr, has been installed and put into operation recently. The experimental facility and results of testing the biomass gasification and a mixture of various solid wastes are described in the paper. Temperature of operation ranges from 700 to 900 °C provide
