Description	In this paper, some considerations are shared with respect to a number of problems and challenges which researchers and engineers in reliability engineering are facing when analyzing today's complex systems. The significance of safety and aspects of risk in the technology context is discussed. Formal bases for risk analysis are mentioned with regard to the decision theory and to the identification and discussion of the various shortcomings from this point of view.
